Dr. Mesbahi is a board certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a graduate of The George Washington University School of Medicine, where he was one of fifteen students selected for early admission as an undergraduate. He went on to complete a six year residency at what is considered one of the country's top plastic surgery training programs, Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC.

During his time at Georgetown, he was trained by nationally recognized leaders in the fields of aesthetic surgery, breast surgery, microvascular surgery, and wound healing. He has authored several articles and chapters on breast surgery and breast reconstruction. He now serves as a clinical faculty member of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Georgetown University Hospital.

Following his residency, Dr. Mesbahi was selected to pursue advanced training at one of the country's most prized fellowship programs for microvascular surgery and cancer reconstruction, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. During his time there, he was a clinical instructor of surgery, assisting the training of residents from institutions including New York University, Cornell University, and Brown University hospitals.

Internationally recognized as a leader in the treatment of cancer, Memorial Sloan Kettering allowed Dr. Mesbahi to gain expertise in the reconstruction of a wide range of complex surgical defects resulting from cancer. He has a special interest in breast surgery, with an emphasis on state of the art breast reconstruction using both implant based reconstruction, and microvascular tissue transfers such as the DIEP flap. He stands out as one of only a few plastic surgeons with advanced fellowship training in breast reconstruction with a dedicated practice for breast cancer patients in the Washington Metropolitan area.
